BSOD (Blue screen of death) atau layar biru pada saat booting ataupun
running windows menandakan bahwa ada hardware atau software yang tidak
bekerja dengan semestinya. Bila kita baru menambahkan perangkat dan
software baru, solusinya kita bisa mencopot hardware yang baru kita
pasang dan meng-uninstall driver software-nya. Lalu bagaimana bila pada
saat starting windows langsung muncul BSOD dengan salah satu messagenya
“UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME” ? Bisa jadi file BOOT.INI sistem windows
rusak atau boot sector hardisk rusak. Bila kita bisa masuk ke safe mode
mungkin tidak menjadi masalah. Namun bila tidak bisa, kita bisa
melakukan hal berikut :
- Boot ulang komputer dengan CD installer Windows XP
- Ketika pilihan “Install” dan “Recovery Console”, pilih “R” untuk masuk ke recovery console
- Bila muncul pertanyaan mengenai password, masukkan password administrator, akan muncul command prompt “C:\>”
- ketik di command prompt C:\>CHKDSK /P
